Our History, Team & Careers

Eleven year-old Will began climate activism in Park City, Utah by knocking on doors and urging neighbors to cease burning wood in their fireplaces! Since then, his path unwaveringly led toward two career goals: an environmental career which led to Bellingham’s Huxley College of the Environment, and skiing, which eventually led to avalanche work at Alta, Utah. A winding path through Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Alaska and Utah led to a summer on Maui. There, the impact and commercial viability of solar energy struck him as an exciting alternative to the environmental non-profit work he did in college. After one last winter ski patrolling he returned to Maui in 2008 to begin his solar career, installing solar panels with Rising Sun Solar. Returning to the PNW in 2010, he began doing the same at Puget Sound Solar. Many years and many job titles later, Will is the General Manager and part owner of the business. Here, Will is focused on innovating our service to our customers and striving to make it the best possible place to work.

Adam came to us in 2010 with a formal training in electronics, looking for a way to get into the solar industry, took our advice and got training in solar installation before returning again to seek employment.  He became quite proficient on site, and moved on to organize our warehouse, permitting and purchasing operations, as well as handling some scheduling details and fleet management.  Adam has become a key member of the team, and much of what we do would not happen without his diligent work.

Was Director of the Pacifica Radio Archives before moving to Seattle in 1997, and remained in the non-profit world as the first Executive Director of Seattle Tilth until mid-2004 when she joined forces with Jeremy to run PSS.  She served as President of Solar Washington, developing the annual Solar Tour, helping to educate the public, and working to effect public policy, and now devotes her time to managing PSS finances, some customer relations, and a bunch of grandchildren.  Pam has also returned to her radio roots as a founder of KBFG-LP, 107.3 FM, a low-power community radio station that serves the north end of Seattle.

Started Puget Sound Solar in 2001 with 30 years of construction contracting experience, and a desire to turn Seattle on to solar energy.  Jeremy believes that our customers often follow a path similar to the one he took, starting out with solar daydreaming, then progressing to education on the subject, and eventually leading to action.  For him, that action included starting a solar business.  In 2004 he became a NABCEP certified PV Installation Professional, and in 2007 became certified as a Washington Electrical Administrator.  In addition to leading the company he does a lot of policy work as an unpaid lobbyist at the State and local levels, and experiments relentlessly with various solar, energy efficiency, and electric vehicle projects.

Jake has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and joined our team in 2021 looking for ways to help the world transition to renewable energy. He started as a rooftop installer and learned how to design systems on the job. Jake is a PNW local and is thrilled to be spending his time meeting people while helping them reduce their carbon footprint. When he’s not looking at your roof, you can find Jake whitewater kayaking, cooking, reading, or attempting various DIY projects.

Roy recently earned a certificate in Clean Energy Technology from Shoreline Community College. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Penn State and an Master in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Roy spent 20 years working for a software company before switching gears and moving over to clean energy. He’s excited to be at Puget Sound Solar doing his part in in the transition to sustainable energy. Roy enjoys spending as much time outside as possible, spending time with his kids and dog, photography, and ushering at various venues in Seattle.

Jason came to us in 2021 with a Bachelor’s in Science in Biochemistry and a Bachelor’s in Arts in Psychology from the University of Washington. He recently received a Nanotechnology Certificate from North Seattle College where he worked in their materials characterization lab. By night Jason could be found bartending at various restaurants around the city. He found a new career pathway at Puget Sound Solar when the pandemic hit, forcing both restaurants and college campuses to close indefinitely. He notes his interest in solar and renewable energy was sparked by “watching way too many” David Attenborough nature documentaries growing up. Jason loves electronic music production, drone photography, attending music festivals and Burning Man. 

Julie came to Puget Sound Solar in 2013 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). She spent 20 years working on B737 and B787 interiors and systems before moving on to help try and save the world with solar. Before switching careers, Julie earned a degree in Clean Energy Technology from Shoreline Community College and taught in the same program from 2010-2020. She’s served on the boards of Solar Washington and the Shoreline Solar Project. Julie enjoys camping, cooking with various solar ovens, and spending time with her family and pets, which include a chiweenie, a dachshund, many Koi fish & bees.
