Orcas Power and Light Co-operative hired Puget Sound Solar to design and install their Community Solar Project on Decatur Island.  This 500 kW system will provide electricity for Co-op members in the San Juan Islands and is installed on utility property across the road from Alma’s Country Store.

Our crews were up to the task of barging all the equipment over from Skyline Marina in Anacortes and spending long work days putting in the ground screws, mounting rails, PV panels, inverters and switchgear.  OPALCO installed a transformer to feed in the electricity produced and provided engineering oversight for the project.

OPALCO has more community solar planned for other locations, so stay tuned!
