It really was record setting hot! Not just here in Washington, but across North America, all month long. June set another heat record across our continent.

The town of Lytton, British Columbia set a new high temperature record for Canada of 121 degrees on June 29th, just before a wildfire wiped out most of the town and many people died.

As we know all to well, Seattle (108°) and Portland (115°) also set new temperature records during the heat wave.

As the Climate Crisis worsens, we’re seeing more frequent severe weather events, so the urgency with which we deal with decarbonizing our society must increase. The good news is that through science, we understand the causes and clean energy technology is evolving and rapidly coming down in cost, so we can make the necessary changes to get things pointed in the right direction for future generations.
