Even surfer vans are going solar in Hawaii!

In just a few short years, the island of Maui rapidly shifted it’s energy profile toward renewable energy and it may hit a goal of providing 100% of it’s electricity via wind and solar by 2024.

Until recently, the Hawaiian islands have been dependent upon burning imported fossil fuels resulting in some of the highest electrical costs in the US and one of the dirtiest electrical grids.

Fortunately, with great wind resources, the cost of solar decreasing 90% over the past decade and the emergence of energy storage, the island can say Aloha to toxic, fossil fuels, helping protect the environment in one of the most beautiful place on earth. That’s the Aloha-spirit!
