While we’re for waiting for Juneuary to pass so we can enjoy a typical beautiful Seattle summer, think back on the intensity of the record setting 108 degree heat dome we experienced about this time last year. We’ll take our Juneuary over another heat dome.

In contrast to what we’re experiencing locally, other parts of the US are currently experiencing very severe weather events. bringing extreme high temperatures to 100 million people in the midwest and south while floods are impacting Montana and Wyoming. Yellowstone National Park is closed because of flooding.

The good news is we can replace toxic fossil fuels with renewables like wind power, solar PV, energy storage systems, pumped hydro and geothermal. Buying an electric vehicle, a programmable mini-split heat pump for heating and cooling, a hybrid water heater, an induction stove or installing insulation or energy efficient windows, means you enjoy a modern lifestyle and conveniences while producing fewer carbon emissions.
