President Biden’s Administration announced it’s goals for solar power in the United States this morning – solar will comprise 45% of all electrical generation by the year 2050 to significantly reduce the nation’s carbon emissions that are contributing to the Climate Crisis.

With goals this big, fundamental shifts need to occur across many industries, from builders to Utilities and with opposition from those with financial stakes in fossil fuels which currently provide about 60% of our nation’s electricity.

Something you can do, today in less than five minutes, to help out in this push for clean, renewable energy is to sign a letter to Congress advocating for a modification to the current solar Federal Tax Credit, making it Direct Pay which would be more equitable for low-moderate income households. More people in this group would go solar if they received their incentive when the solar PV system is installed versus waiting until filing their taxes the following year. Many low-moderate families do not have the tax appetite to receive the full benefits in one year so they have to wait several years before getting fully reimbursed.

We posted about this proposed modification earlier today and you can learn more on the Residential Renewables For All website.
